Jackie and Landon -- Married!

Jackie and Landon were married on June 12th in a backyard ceremony at Landon's parent's house in Kentucky. The day ended up being beautiful despite the 60% chance of rain predicted. I must say that there is a lot to be said about the power of prayer, because I know many people were praying for good weather for their special day. You would think with a 60% chance of rain that you wouldn't even see the sun, but by the ceremony time there were only a few wispy clouds in the sky. It was gorgeous out!

I found this couple through our good friend that's a photographer in Louisville, Tyler. He is a brother-in-law to the groom, so he stood in this wedding, and referred me for the photography. I didn't get to meet Jackie and Landon until the day of, but it felt like we had known each other for a long time almost immediately. They were both very into the photography part of the day, which of course I thrive on, and as a result we were able to get some great pictures throughout the day. Thanks for including me in your day! I hope to get to see you guys sometime again when in Kentucky!! Enjoy!

Kathryn and Jason - Married!!

I have really enjoyed every minute with Kathryn and Jason! They are both such happy people that keep me laughing and smiling the whole time I'm with them. They were married on May 30th at the Roosevelt Hotel, and they came to the studio tonight for their image release party. We had a great time this evening looking back on the journey of the past six months. From engagements, to Kathryn's bridals, to the wedding day, this couple gushed with love and joy all the time; those characteristics come through very clear when you look at their pictures. The wedding day went very smoothly from start to finish. They had the MOST beautiful chuppah ever, created by Urban Earth. It was gorgeous! And the material that was draped across the top of it is Kathryn's grandmother's -- I love sentimental meaning behind the details! As soon as the ceremony ended the Free Agents brass band led everyone down to the Blue Room in a second line. The party was underway from there with dancing the rest of the night. Thanks for letting me be a part of your day! Looking forward to spending more time with you guys!! :)

EE & EE -- Married-- in Hilton Head!

EE + EE = EEEE or LOVE! No, it's not a complicated math problem, but a lot of "E" initials! Eric Evans, also known as EE or Double, now has the beautiful wife Erin Evans -- you can imagine the new nicknames, Quad, E to the 4th, etc. :)

Where to start with this amazing couple? I have known Erin for about 10-12 years, she is the sister of my best friend's husband. (Did you follow me there?) I could honestly say I've watched Erin grow up even though we're only a couple years apart. In that time though I've never seen her this happy. Only a short time after meeting Eric upon arriving in Hilton Head, I knew everything was as it should be with this special pair. They complimented each other in a very unique way. They just seemed to be the last two pieces to a big puzzle -- it was really amazing. It was also incredible to see the love that Erin has for Eric. They just "get" each other. It's great!! (I must add a side note here that it's late, and I'm running on little sleep tonight, yet it seems to make me write more, and I must be feeling mushy too because I'm almost tearing up as I go!! )

I should insert here that Erin and Eric are also from Kentucky, they currently live in Louisville, but they planned an intimate destination wedding with their closest relatives and family in Hilton Head. They both grew up vacationing there, and they both share a love of golf too, so it naturally seemed like the perfect location. It seemed from the beginning without question that Erin wanted me to make the trek out there with them to document everything. It also gave me to opportunity to spend time with my BFF. :) It was such a great time getting to shoot in this scenic area. They were married at the point on the golf course by Harbor Town at Sea Pines Resort. Again, it doesn't get much more perfect for this couple! The weather was great, and the ceremony was beautiful. I'm thrilled with all of the pictures we were able to capture of the wedding party and of Erin and Eric. From our wonderful accommodations, to the golf course, the lighthouse, the trolley, the reception at the house, and the after shoot on the beach -- it was a blast!! I can't stress enough that the more you are at ease with the photographer, the better the pictures -- they completely put their trust in me, and I was able to deliver some fun images for them. (Another side note -- able to deliver after being almost sick Saturday morning with nerves because of personally knowing them for a very long time! :) That's right -- I do still get nervous! Anyone in their right mind would - it's only one of the most important days of your life! ) As soon as I got my camera in my hands though I settled into my groove.

This evening we were able to do an image release party of sorts all the way in Kentucky so that they could view the images the way we do here for our local brides. It was a lot of fun, and they are very pleased. Thanks again Dinah (Erin's mom) for the baked spaghetti and fabulous peanut butter pie!! Thanks for taking me along for the journey guys!! Congratulations!!! xoxox

Carey & Jeremy -- Married!!

Getting to meet Carey and Jeremy and photograph their wedding was just about an act of fate. My brother was supposed to be coming to stay in New Orleans with me to attend a wedding of friends from Kentucky on a Wednesday night. Through Facebook, an old acquaintance that I used to attend church with contacted me and asked if I was still taking pictures. She wanted to try and hook me up with some friends of theirs that were getting married in New Orleans on a Wednesday in May. At this point I thought, "Wait a minute, this has to be the same wedding." And of course it was. So now I had two great referrals for this couple, and they trusted me right away.

We were able to meet shortly after they got to town before the wedding. Within minutes I felt like I had known them for years, maybe it was their easy-going personalities, the southern charm, or simply our hometown connection. I knew that I was going to have a wonderful time with them. I should also add that Carey's sister is getting ready to begin the same program that I took at Western Kentucky for photojournalism, another interesting connection. It just all came together and made for a great new friendship. They come to New Orleans often, so we're planning to get together when they come back.

The couple is often referred to as "Caremy" which I absolutely adore. It doesn't really work too well for CheyAnne and Doug(las) -- let me know if you come up with something witty!! :) For the wedding they got ready at the Royal Sonesta which is where we did their first look and the formals with the family. From there we walked over to the French Quarter W Hotel where they had an intimate ceremony in the courtyard. It was my first time in their courtyard, and it was awesome. I love the steps to where they said their vows, the fire fountain in the middle, and the cabanas all around the courtyard. It was a great fit to their personalities.

It rained for a little bit after the ceremony pushing us inside for a few minutes, but we were eventually able to venture back outdoors -- it didn't stop the party! At the end of the night, Carey looked more like Carrie Bradshaw in her stunning "after" dress. A shorter white dress with a belt, hot pink shoes, earrings, and a necklace she found at Canal Shops that day -- which I still want to go look for!! From the fashionable wedding dress to the after party outfit and everything in between, Carey and Jeremy, excuse me, Caremy -- were wonderful!! Thanks you guys! Looking forward to meeting up again soon! Enjoy!!

Betty and Jon - Married!!

Betty and Jon were married in an intimate ceremony in Jackson Square on May 22nd. The ceremony was lovely, as are this couple. They are so sweet with one another, you can definitely feel the love between them after only spending a few minutes together. They live in Florida, but we were able to meet a few days before the wedding which is always nice because I get to see how they interact with one another.

After the ceremony they had their first dance under the trees which I thought was quite romantic. ;) We then took all the formal pictures, and then I was able to take the couple off for awhile to do some images with just the two of them. It was pretty hot out by this time, but we were able to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. We finished up on Royal St. and then they headed into The Court of Two Sisters for an afternoon of good food with their families.

Thanks for letting me capture your New Orleans wedding. It was a pleasure!!! :) Enjoy!

Alissa & Jonathan - Married!!

Alissa and Jonathan were married May 15th at the St. Louis Hotel in the French Quarter. It was a courtyard ceremony, and it did pour that day, but luckily the St. Louis does have the cover that made it almost unnoticeable that it was raining, except of course for the thunder during the ceremony! All in all, it turned out to be a beautiful day with a beautiful couple. Alissa and Jonathan were both very laid back and had a lot of fun at the reception. I "love" the sparkler shot we got at the end! Hope you guys like it too, it will be a nice surprise for you! ;) Enjoy!

Meet Brittany and Ben!

Brittany and Ben will also be married this October on the 2nd at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Thibodaux. I had a great time with them during our shoot. I often ask couples to do what I call an "almost kiss." It was so cute because Ben had a hard time not kissing her when I'd ask them to do this. The even cuter part is that they've been together for 7 or 8 years, so it's always nice to see a couple still that into each other after that long! :)

Ben proposed to Brittany the night after Christmas when they were in New Orleans, and even had a poem he wrote called "The Night After Christmas." I may have to ask Brittany for permission to post it on here because it's amazing. The fence that you'll see with the red wall was where they stopped when they were walking around that night, and he proposed there. ;) I just love engagement stories!!

We wrapped up the shoot around the dome because they wanted to sport their Saints attire. We had fun goofing off around there for some fun photos. Enjoy!
